Solar Oven Success - 4th Grade

The fourth graders tested out their wonderful and creatively designed solar ovens by cooking s'mores last week.  A few more classes have yet to test.  Let's hope for SUN this week.

It's Electrifying! - 4th grade

http://corder.wrightcity.k12.mo.us/Science/ScienceLinks_files/Electricity%20WebQuest.htm

It was a dark and stormy night. Thunder boomed and lightning crashed. The power was out so you grabbed your flashlight to see what was going on. You pushed the on button just as you heard a strange noise, but nothing happened. You were still in total darkness. Why was your flashlight not working? You will find out as you explore electricity.

Virginia's Watersheds - 5th grade

Every person lives in a watershed, which is the area of land that catches precipitation such as snow and rain and drains into a stream, river, lake, or marsh. Virginia has 14 major watersheds. By studying watersheds, you’ll understand more about the connected waterways in your town or city. You’ll also learn about how humans impact watersheds. For example, what types of pollution affect watersheds? How are different groups taking action to protect watersheds? In this WebQuest, you will explore the topic of watersheds and find the answers to some of these questions.

Arbor Day

Last week we celebrated Arbor Day in Nottingham Classrooms in grades 3-5.  Students could choose among nine different activities allowing students to honor the day in a variety of ways.  Students with all different learning styles found a way to honor this special day.  Some students drew pictures or wrote poetry. Other students wrote lyrics and shared their amazing songs with the class.  Some students collaborated on developing their own board game and others created commercials on iMovie persuading people to reduce, reuse, and recycle.  The creativity was really flowing at Nottingham.

In partnership with Dominion Power, they have generously donated saplings to all participating students through a program called Project Plant It. Due to a little delay, our saplings are not here yet but will be sent home with students as soon as they arrive.

Sorry that some of your artwork posted sideways or upside down.  I can't seem to get them all facing the right direction.
